With the Olympics going on, I wanted to introduce you to a sport for robots… called Bot Hockey, which is fun and entertaining to watch. Bot Hockey is played between two teams of three robots, with rules very similar to ice hockey. Both teams aim to shoot the hockey puck into each other’s goals.
Rules
There are rules on how the robots can be designed… the three robots must have a cumulative weight of 45 lbs, with each robot being a minimum of 5 lbs, and a maximum of 20 pounds. The robot must fit into a 18 inch x 18 inch bin, with the robot’s height no more than a hockey puck. The robots are allowed to use extended arms as long as these are collapsable and not always in use. Robots must be battery powered, and controlled with the help of a radio control. The robots are not allowed to have any weapons which can damage opponent robots. The playing rink is 24 feet x 12 feet, with the 48 inch wide and 12 inch high goals on opposite ends.
