Recently SkildAI has been in the news for coming out of stealth with a funding round of $300M which valued it at $1.5 Billion. Meet Extreme Parkour with a quadruped robot
The founders of Skild AI are Prof Deepak Pathak from CMU and PhD students from his research team who have been working towards developing robotic agents that can learn skills from sensory data. One of their well known pieces of work is Extreme Parkour, in which a quadruped robot acquires impressive skills such as walking on ramps and jumping through obstacles with the help of a machine learning model which is trained on the camera’s data with Reinforcement Learning (RL). The videos on the Extreme Parkour are very cool to watch. Here is one popular video on YouTube.
