I have been occupied with tracking all the developments in AI and robotics at NeurIPS 2025, so this will be a quick post with updates. For folks unaware about NeurIPS, it is become the premier research conference in the field of Artifical Intelligence. This years edition had to be co-located at San Diego and Mexico City (because of visa issues faced by people to get into the USA). The conference seems to have been attended by over 30000 attendees which is higher than 64% of last year attendance (For reference, the only NEurIPS I have attended in 2019 has approximately 11000 attendees, and even that felt crowded). Since Artificial Intelligence and robotics have become intertwined, there is a lot of robotics research presented at NeurIPS. For now, I will point out to cool videos trending on social media.
Tesla was showing off its Optimus humanoid… the robot was tethered to a cord for charging and couldn’t move… but could show off gestures with its 22 Degree of Freedom (DoF) …
