Hugging Face, the pioneering platform for open-source machine learning models and datasets is making many moves in robotics. It recently acquired Pollen Robotics, and plans to sell a humanoid robot called Reachy 2 for USD 70000. Hugging Face also recently released its next version of a 3D printable robotic arm called SO-ARM101. The goal of Hugging Face is to become a pioneer in open source robotics by enabling people to cheaply build and then train robots. This post discusses details of the just released SO-ARM101 robotic arm.
Getting a SO-ARM101
You can buy a SO-ARM101 package complete with all parts from a variety of vendors listed in a tweet by Remi Cadene, the founder of the robotics team at Hugging Face. A package with all necessary components usually costs around USD 100, although the price is fluctuating across different sites due to the impact of US tariffs and the pre-tariff inventory that the vendors have stocked .
